The Characters module

Characters who stay true to themselves.

Give every character a profile, a face and a history, then keep them consistent from the first chapter to the last. Their names in your manuscript link back to their profiles on their own.

Profiles

A profile shaped like your character.

Start with the essentials and add the fields your story needs. Mix short facts, long passages and images, arrange them in columns and save the layout as a template for the next character.

✦ Save any layout as a template and reuse it for the whole cast.

For your readers

Introduce your cast at the right moment.

Publish character pages in your story’s wiki and decide when each one appears: from the chapter that introduces them, after a later chapter, after the last page, or whenever you choose. Readers can discuss every entry in the comments.

  • Draft Private notes. Never shown to readers.
  • Canon Shown once its reveal condition is met.
  • Revealed Public for every reader.
Questions

About characters

Can I change the fields of a character profile?

Yes. Add, remove and reorder fields, choose their type and arrange them in columns. Save the result as a template to reuse it.

Does uNovelist recognise nicknames?

Yes. Add aliases to a character and the editor links those names in your manuscript too.

Will readers see my character notes?

No. Notes and draft entries stay private. Readers only see entries you mark as canon or revealed, once their reveal condition is met.

How many characters can I create?

On the free Wanderer plan characters share the limit of 50 wiki entries across your projects. Archmage removes the limit.
