Privacy policy

Last updated: 21 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data this website collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the uNovelist presentation site, including the book reviewers and publishers directories. The uNovelist writing app has its own terms and policy.

Who we are

This website is run by uNovelist. If you have any question about your data, write to us at contact@unovelist.com.

Saving a shortlist

When you save a shortlist, we collect your email address, the reviewers or publishers in your list (as a link and their names), the language you use on the site, and the IP address and time of your request as a record of your consent.

We use this only to send you your list. You will first receive an email asking you to confirm your address; the list is sent after you confirm.

Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). We keep this data until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.

Contact form

When you write to us through the contact page, we collect your name, email address, the topic and text of your message, the language you use on the site, and the IP address and time of your request.

We use this only to read and answer your message. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in replying to you, or taking steps at your request (GDPR Article 6(1)(f) and (b)). We keep messages for as long as needed to handle your request, and at most two years, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

Launch list

When you sign up on the launch page, we collect your email address, your name if you give it, whether you are here as a writer or a reader, the language you use on the site, and the IP address and time of your sign-up.

We use this only to tell you when uNovelist launches and to send a few emails on getting ready for it. Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). Every email has an unsubscribe link, and we delete the list once it is no longer needed for the launch.

Newsletter (optional)

If you tick the newsletter box when saving a shortlist or sending a message, we also add your email address to our newsletter list and send you uNovelist news and writing tips. This is entirely optional and does not affect receiving your shortlist or our reply.

Legal basis: your consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Applying to the reviewers directory

When you apply to be listed, we collect your name or channel name, email address, profile links, follower counts, languages, genres, review terms, description, and the IP address and time of your application.

We use this to review your application and, if accepted, to show your public profile in the directory. Your email address is used only to contact you about your listing and is never published.

Legal basis: your consent. We keep this data while you are listed, or until you ask us to delete it.

Public profiles in the directory

The directory lists publicly available information about book creators and review sites: name, links to public profiles, approximate audience size, genres and a short description written by us.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in helping authors find reviewers (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). If you are listed and want something changed or removed, write to contact@unovelist.com and we will act on it promptly.

Technical data and spam protection

The website is hosted by Vercel, which processes your IP address and basic browser information in server logs to deliver the site and keep it secure.

Our forms briefly keep IP addresses and email addresses in memory to limit repeated requests. To stop spam, your browser solves a small calculation before a form is sent. We do not use a third-party captcha.

Cookies and browser storage

We do not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Your language choice and your shortlist are saved in your browser’s local storage; they are not sent to us unless you choose to save your list. Fonts are served from our own server.

Service providers

We use MailerLite to store email addresses and applications and to send emails, and Vercel to host the website. They process data on our behalf and under our instructions.

Where a provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, it does so with the safeguards required by the GDPR, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Links to other sites

The directory links to TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and other websites. We do not embed their content; once you follow a link, their own privacy policies apply.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, restrict or object to its use, and receive a copy of it. You can withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what was done before, by using the unsubscribe link or writing to contact@unovelist.com.

You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Our forms are not intended for children under 16.

Changes

If we change how we use your data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
